Sunday Ramen

One quick and easy meal I sometimes like to make when I'm having a lazy Sunday at home is Ramen. I love Ramen! It's like a blank canvas of noodle begging for a little sprucing up. I think the best part of making Ramen is the possibility of what you can add. Today I added some stir-fry beef and a frozen pack of mixed vegetables (broccoli and carrots). I like to cook my beef flavored Ramen in beef stock. lastly,  I add a few dashes of red pepper flakes ( because I like my Ramen spicy). And the end result? A delicious and satisfying Sunday afternoon soup.

Booking

I actually wish I was more of an avid reader then I am, but a last I'm not. Nowadays for three seasons of the year all of my reading material is required by school. But I do make time to fill my ever growing personal library so that when summer rolls around I'll have a great selection to play catch-up with. Here are a few books I'm loving right now.

I love the idea of a coloring book for adults. This one is AMAZING!

Tavi is one of my bff's in my head. Needless to say she's probably 15 years my junior, this girl is cool personified. I love her style and no matter how old I am I always want to know what the cool kids are doing.

If you haven't experienced people's pops you are truly missing out on pops perfection! Their the best pops on the east coast and when I heard that they had made a recipe book I had to have it.

Going Strapless

One of my favorite sites Refinery 29 recently posted a piece about strapless dresses. This made me think about my all time favorite strapless dress and the mere pennies I paid for it. I found it about two summers ago on the dress rack at Brooklyn's buffalo-exchange. It's Jcrew and it was love at first sight! And the price tag? I'm sure when in season this dress easily went for over $100. I paid less then twenty! I took these pictures a little while back in it in my favorite BK park, needless to say it was a beautiful day. Here's to thrift shopping way before it became cool or anyone started rapping about it.

Think Pink!

Is there any reader out there old enough to remember that number one hit song by Barbie and the Rockers? I immediately thought of it when I saw this pink furniture feature on ApartmentTherapy. com. When it comes to interior design I actually never "Think Pink" but with these subtle pieces I just might. It's possible to add pink to your interior without it being overwhelming or looking like a homage to Pepto bismol.

1. Cardigan Pendent lampshade, $49.95 from Land of Nod
2. The Rits Sofa by Gelderland

3. Eames dcm with pink upholstery, $999 from Hive Modern

4. SNOIG work lamp, $19.99 from IKEA

5. Plywood cabinet by How Are You, approx. $3,710

6. Architecture bed by Room and Board in Blossom, starting at $999

7. Pink powdercoated side table by Iacoli & McAllister, $495

Here's some inspiration to add a little pink to your decor:

Swimsuit Shopping

Last summer I discover how close I live to the beach here in Brooklyn. Less than 20 minutes away by public transportation! So from that summer on I vowed to spend as much time at the beach as humanly possible. Since the weather has been consistently mid-80's I think it's time that the beach-bum portion of my summer begins. With that in mind I've decided a new swimsuit is in order. Last year I had 2 two-piece bikini's that I loved. But this year I'm venturing into the uncharted territory of the one-piece and tankini. And to answer your question yes it is because I have not been as faithful to my yoga routine as I have been in past years. But, although I won't be baring all that my momma gave me this summer I found some pretty cute options at Bloomingdales.com. These are my top three choices:

Updating my bed and Investments

I've recently gone head over heels for home decor. I've been redesigning my current digs for the past few months and I'm loving it. I just got this new bedding from my favorite Saturday past-time Ikea. I've discovered getting one thing at Ikea is IMPOSSIBLE! So when there I just let the spirit of shopping move me without resistance. The same could be said about Home Goods where everything is just so PRETTY! Needless to say I spend so much at these places I'm looking to own stock in the company, No seriously I am.

Paris on my mind

This will be the first time in two years that I won't be spending time in Paris in August. The responsibilities of life take priority over carefree strolls down the Rue de Rivoli and picnics at the Eiffel tower. I have to find a job, apply for loans and prepare for Grad-School. But all of these grown up responsibilities don't prevent me from remembering the place that I hold dear to my heart. Here are some pics of last summer's trip.

Wedding Styles

One of my not mentioned obsessions is weddings. I equally love the significants of them as well as the pageantry of it all. This year I started pinning wedding Idea, perhaps I'll need them one day? One never knows. What I love is how lots of people are tossing all traditional notions about weddings and doing things their way. That's what a wedding should be right? A reflection of the bride and groom and the love that they share. I love this article about wedding backdrops I found on ApartmentTherapy.com. It's wedding whimsey and originality at its best.

Easy, breezy summer hair

Is there anything easier then having your hair braided during the hot NYC summer months of July

and August? I'm going to say no! Braids are awesome for the summer time! It's an easy just get up and

go style that will give you a no fuss, carefree summer. And, braids will give your hair a much needed

rest during these months, it's an all around win win summer hair solution. No one is doing braids

better then Solo right now. I feel inspired, so off to the African hair braiders I'll be going!

Salad is healthy, right?

So I have found something new to swoon over. Dirty Bird's Tribeca location has been the lunch

time highlight of my days lately. I'm a simple easy to please girl, I usually go for the 3 piece wing

meal repetitively. But today I decided to venture away from my norm and I ordered the fried

chicken salad, one of their healthier menu choices. And OH MY WORD! It was a delightful

mid-day surprise. It was a beautiful bed of greens with mounds of fried chicken pieces and corn

bread croutons piled high on top. Needless to say I have found a new favorite! Dirty Bird

you never cease to amaze me!

I think this will be the summer of the slow Jam, here's what I'm listening to now:

Blogging: Take 117

So here I am once again! I want to blog, blog, blog. Although I haven't exactly

been successful at blogging in the past, I'm here to take a try at it one more time.

I'm an avid blog reader who likes to share thoughts and experiences. I teach,

I shop, I travel, and I consume music like oxygen. I hope to bring you things of

interest that might bring a little bliss to you life. If you love fashion, music,

creating and consuming eatable joy (food) and obsessing over those who march

to the beat of their own drum, there's a place in your heart for my blog!
